The ANC Limpopo provincial executive committee came out of its Friday special sitting with guns blazing after a recent spate of acts of defiance against its deployees in the Collins Chabane, Greater Letaba and Lephalale sub-regions.

In Collins Chabane the problem is the repeated disruption of the sub regional conference. The Vhembe regional officials are directed to preside over the sub regional conference, and discipline those collapsed the previous conferences.

The provincial leaders spared most of its wrath to its troubled Lephalale sub region whose councillors gifted the minority Democratic Alliance the mayoral position in the local municipality.

In defiance of provincial party bosses in Polokwane, some ANC members voted for a DA mayor and brought their party into disrepute. The provincial leadership prescribed to the Lephalale sub regional officials to ensure the election of the party candidate Aaron Mokgehle as mayor.

“All ANC councillors who defied the party directive will be subjected to disciplinary proceedings in terms of the ANC constitution,”

ANC provincial secretary Reuben Madadzhe says in a statement.

In a further attempt to deal with rogue tendencies among its deployees in the Lephalale and Waterberg municipalities, instructed the district Executive Mayor Morris Mataboge to restructure the mayoral committee in the district, while the provincial leadership restructure the proportional representation councillors in the Lephalale local municipality.

On the disputed Greater Letaba sub-regional conference, the province ordered a rerun under the supervision of the ANC Norman Mashabane regional officials. The PEC further expressed discomfort about the conduct of the regional organizer and directed the region to consider subjecting him to disciplinary proceedings because his conduct to a particular extent gave rise to the disputes relating to the sub-regional elective meeting.

The special provincial executive committee also constituted the Provincial Dispute Resolution Committee under Dr Phophi Ramathuba. Other members of the committee are Rodgers Monama, Mavhungu Leruli-Ramakhanya, Thabo Mokone, Simon Mathe and Nkakareng Rakgoale.
