Specialist doctors joined by Health MEC Dr Phophi Ramathuba during the rural health matters outreach program.

The Rural Health Matters Outreach Project which rendered services at hospitals in the Mopani District from September 24 to October 1st, has benefitted three hundred and fifty patients within the district.

A team of medical and dental specialist was stationed at Letaba Hospital, Van Velden Hospital, Dr CN Phathudi Hospital, Kgapane Hospital, Maphutha Malatjie Hospital, Sekororo Hospital and Nkhensani Hospital. 

The Mopani Rural Health Matters Outreach Program was a great success as the healthcare workers managed to conduct 350 operations cumulatively in a space of seven days under the following disciplines: Orthopedics (42 operations), Urogynaecology (40), General Surgery (21), ENT (38), Paeds Surgery (22), Plastic Surgery (12), Opthamology Surgery (40), Gynaecology Surgery (17), Urology Surgery (91), Maxillofacial Surgery (11) and Radiology Surgery (52).

Limpopo Health MEC, Dr Phophi Ramathuba, thanked all the medical and dental specialists’ who volunteered as well as the healthcare workers who supported the program.

“We thank all the hospital managers in the Mopani District who made this program possible. To all our volunteer specialists and all health care workers, we are grateful to see your commitment in improving the lives of our people. Your service is always appreciated. Together we can do more to change the lives of our people,”

said MEC Ramathuba.

The next stop of the Rural Health Matters Outreach Program will be in the Capricon District from the 22nd October 2022.
