Mpheni Home Defenders coach, Amukelani “JayJay” Hlongwane has joined National First Division side Baroka FC on a three year deal.
The former Winnerspark star midfielder will be assistant to newly appointed head coach Stan Nkoane in the new season. Coach JayJay was recruited by “Bakgaga ba ga Mphahlele” following his great performance as Coach of Mpheni in the ABC Motsepe league.
According to Baroka Chairperson, Khurishi Mphahlele, the NFD side have been monitoring coach JayJay’s performance for the past two years and were impressed by his record. “We have been monitoring his performance for the past two years. His record speaks volumes and we believe that he will add value to the team. We also think we can empower him to grow as an individual” said Mphahlele.
JayJay was part of Mpheni team that won the ABC Motsepe league in two consecutive years. This year they came very close to gaining the NFD league status after they took position one in the group stage of the promotional playoffs. They later lost their semifinal game 3-2 on penalties after the game had ended in a one-all stalemate.
