Former Sekhukhune District Municipality employees and their alleged accomplices appeared briefly in Polokwane Specialised Commercial Crimes Court on Monday.

Andries Mokgotho (45), Bongani Masupye(45), Kedibone Magagane(45), Sivhadana Murovhi(39), and Charles Malema(42) are charged with six counts of fraud.

The following suspects: Mokgotho, Magagane, and Malema were employees of Sekhukhune District Municipality as expenditure clerk, expenditure manager and chief financial officer respectively.

It is alleged that between 5 and 7 July 2018, they connived and direct the payment of R5,4 million to Murovhi and Masupye who never rendered service to the municipality. The monies were supposed to be paid to the three service providers who were rendering security services, collecting water reticulation and completion of precast VIP toilets structures.

The matter is postponed to 05 February 2024 for disclosure of the docket content. Accused one, two, three granted bail of R5000 while accused five and six were granted bail of R8000. Accused four is the company called Fidos General Trading (Pty) Ltd.
