The South African Football Associatio Provincial Chairperson Jack Maluleke says teams who did not honour their Nedbank Cup preliminary games on Thursday will face consequences.

Maluleke was referring to the conduct of teams such as Maruleng Celtics, Eleven Fast Experience, Mighty FC and Ditlou who failed to honour their home fixtures on Thursday afternoon.

Maruleng was fixtured to play against the league newbie Nkowankowa Continental while Eleven Fast Experience was supposed to have played against Mokopane PJ Stars, however both teams did not pitch up. In Seshego both Mighty and Ditlou also did not honour their game.

Maluleke said any club that has refused to play even when SAFA had officially issued the fixture will have to face consequences. “It can’t be business as usual. There is nothing we can do but to charge these teams. They must understand that football is run by the laws of the game and that we have the statutes of SAFA, therefore we have no other option but to charge these teams” he said.

” We tried to be so civil to them to say we don’t have the structure called board of governors, we only  have clubs in the province. If you need clarity concerning issues of SAFA we will be glad to come to the meeting with the clubs to clear uncertainties and give correct information” he added.

Continental and Mokopane PJ Stars join Mpheni Home defenders as they match on to the next stage of the Nedbank Cup this Sunday.
