The South African Football Association (SAFA) Mopani Hollywood bets men’s regional league Tropical A stream has suspended a Pjapjamela FC player Phineas Ratlabala for dangerous play.

The player was suspended due to a dangerous play which broke the Dynamos player’s leg during a league match over the weekend. The injured player was rushed to Letaba Hospital and is now awaiting to undergo an operation.

In a letter shared in the regional league’s whatsApp group, the leadership expressed their disappointment over the lack of discipline and fair play by the perpetrator.

“The regional leadership takes no nonsense on dangerous play and strive for fair  play. Discipline and dedication to football development are key” read the letter. Mopani regional league president Vincent Ramphao said the injured player is still in hospital waiting to be operated since 6 January this year. “Our focus now is on the injured player because we are concerned about our players health. Afterwards the perpetrator will be taken to joint DC and technical committee for further judgment” he highlighted.

A furious Ramphao said they have the right to deregister such a player from the league in promotion of fairplay. “We have deregistered players for assaulting referees before” he concluded
