The new South African national soccer team Under-20 coach, Raymond Mdaka, has promised to select players from the ABC Motsepe and Hollywood bets leagues in his future selection of players for the national team.
This comes after social media concerns were raised that players from the second and third-tier leagues were being ignored in the national team selection.
Mdaka responded to these concerns by saying that the reason they did not select players from these leagues was due to the lack of ample time to look at all players, as the selection process was urgent.
“Amajita” will begin their program for the year from 21-28 this month with a weeklong training camp at the SAFA Technical Centre in the south of Johannesburg.
This gathering will be the first of many ahead of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers in September 2024. Mdaka emphasized the need for provincial underage competitions to facilitate the selection of national team players.
