Fans are adamant that Baroka’s failure to gain promotion to the DSTV Premier Soccer League is directly linked to the untimely change of coach.
Following a 4-0 loss to PSL side Richard’s Bay, which left them at the bottom of the promotional standings, many are pointing to the decision to suspend head coach Dan Malesela after their first playoff game loss to Pretoria University.
The club accused Malesela of player recruitment for other teams, but fans and soccer pundits question this move, believing Malesela would have delivered better results than the temporary coach, Morgan Mamila.
Both Malesela and team boss Kurishi Mphahlele have defended their positions on media platforms, with Malesela denying the allegations and Mphahlele steadfast in the belief that they made the right decision. The possibility of Mamila becoming the permanent coach is still uncertain.
