Bolobedu-based Josy United FC is expected to deliver a championship performance in their third playoff tournament, which will be held at Lulekani Stadium this weekend.
The three year-old club has failed to win the inter-regional playoffs for two consecutive years, finishing second and fourth in the previous competitions. They lost to Tzaneen United in the finals of their first playoffs at Nkowankowa Stadium and failed to advance beyond the group stage in Kgapane Stadium last year.
This time, however, they will have to win the competition to satisfy their loyal supporters and their passionate chairperson, Joseph Machethe, who has made significant sacrifices to keep the club functioning even without sponsorship.
In November 2021, Joseph promised soccer lovers in Bolobedu professional status within three years, a promise that can only be realized if he can purchase NFD status. However, victory in this year’s playoffs could serve as a step toward fulfilling his promise.
Josy will play their first and second games against the loser and winner of the match between Giyani-based Dzekula Sky Masters and Mokgwathi United on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
