Tzaneen United is eagerly awaiting word from the Premier Soccer League team, Cape Town City, concerning the clearance and compensation for their exceptional player, Lefa “Toy” Aphane.
The 22-year-old midfielder was recently unveiled as one of Cape Town City’s new signings for the upcoming season. Other players introduced by the Eric Tinkler-coached team included former Orlando Pirates player Fortune Makarinke, Ayanda Sithole from Magezi, and Kayden Francis from Chippa United.
Pictures of Aphane signing a contract for Cape Town City were widely shared on social media over the past weekend. “The Citizens ” also officially confirmed the player’s acquisition on their Facebook page, announcing that they have reached an agreement for the transfer and extending a warm welcome to him in the PSL.
However, Dennus Mafologela, the owner of Tzaneen United, has revealed that the team has not received any communication or compensation from Cape Town City management concerning their player. Mafologela expressed his joy at the young player’s progress but also voiced concern over the lack of communication from the PSL-based team. “I am hoping to hear from Cape Town City regarding the player’s transfer and development compensation. We have been nurturing ‘Toy’ for around three years now, guiding him from his SAB league days,” he mentioned.
Aphane’s agent, Vincent Kobola of Triple M Soccer Agency, stated that his role as the agent is complete, and the remaining pending matter is an agreement between the two clubs.
