The mayor of the Greater Letaba Municipality, Councillor Dagma Mamanyoha, on Wednesday organised a praiseworthy breakfast event to celebrate the success of Thlothlokwe Golden Syrup, the winners of the Hollywood Bets Inter-Regional playoffs and gaining a well-deserved promotion to the ABC Motsepe League.
Monday’s ceremony, held at Mokwakwaila Community Hall, was graced by the attendance of several EXCO members and councillors, as well as Cllr Ramalatso Rosina, the Whip of Council and Cllr Ramaano, Head of Sports Portfolio.
The victory of Thlothlokwe in the 2023–24 promotional playoffs, where they secured an undefeated record during their games in Sekhukhune last month, was greatly celebrated by the soccer fans in the Greater Letaba Municipality, especially those who live in Bolobedu and nearby villages.
During his speech, Mamanyoha praised the team for their hard work and determination and encouraged them to do well in their first ABC Motsepe League season. Chairperson Brown Moremi expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the municipality for its essential support, particularly for paying for the team’s lodging during the tournament in the Sekhukhune district, and he credited the municipality’s assistance for the team’s achievement.
In the forthcoming season, Golden Syrup will team up with Bellevue Winnerspark to try and earn National First Division status for the residents of Bolobedu and the surrounding Mopani region.
