Fourteen-year-old Dazel Mkhari has been chosen as one of the 20 best U-15 players to represent South Africa in the CAF African Schools Football Championship.

The championship will take place in Namibia from September 9th to 12th this year. Dazel, hailing from Mantlakazi, was selected based on her exceptional performances for Makhanya Junior Secondary School in Mamitwa village.

She is among the three best players from Limpopo province who were selected. The other selected players are Eaglet Ramadwa and Ambani Raphadana from Sinthumule Secondary School in Ha-Ramantsha, Louis Trichard.

Dazel began playing competitive football at the age of 11 for the senior Sasol Women’s League side, Sisters FC in Mantlakazi Mamitwa village. She has proven to be a talented and versatile player, able to perform anywhere on the field. At Sisters, she plays as a number 10 and has already scored three goals and provided numerous assists during the current season.

Dazel’s exceptional talent was first recognized nationally in 2021 during the Engen National Under 20 Tournament in Markspark, Johannesburg, where she stood out as the youngest player in the tournament.

Her coach at Sisters, Monica Mathonsi, who played a pivotal role in her development, expressed her elation at Dazel’s success, saying, “I am very pleased that she made it to the national team. She is a highly talented player who can excel in any position on the field. I am truly inspired.”
