Tzaneen United has appointed Oruel Sambo as its new head coach.

Sambo, a former coach of Nkowankowa Continental and holder of a CAF C License coaching certificate, began training with the team, known as “Lebapola,” yesterday afternoon. He replaces Coach Peace Khosa, who recently left the club to re-join his former team Continental.

Sambo, who hails from Dan Village near Nkowankowa, acknowledges the challenges of coaching a team like Tzaneen United and emphasizes the shift in focus from league triumphs to championship aspirations.

Sambo’s first test will be this weekend at Makhado Showground, where Tzaneen United will take on Munaca in the Nedbank Cup preliminary round. Sambo expresses confidence in his team’s abilities for the upcoming season, highlighting the retention of key members from the previous year’s squad and the addition of seven new players, including one who was signed from a PSL team, to fill the void left by departures of players to National First Division and Premier League teams.
