Blessing “Messi” Mahasha, a dynamic former midfielder for Jomo Cosmos, has officially signed with the Polokwane City DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) team. Mahasha began his career with Cosmos at a young age and quickly emerged as a pivotal player.

After navigating some challenges during his transition, the Ga-Kgapane born Mahasha is now thrilled to embrace this new opportunity with Polokwane City. He joined the team at the start of the month and has already participated in three matches.

His debut game was against Cape Town City on October 13, followed by competitive encounters against Kaizer Chiefs and Richards Bay over the past two weekends.

Recognized for his fierce competitive spirit, Mahasha has consistently showcased exceptional talent. He was elevated from the Cosmos under-23 side to the senior team at the impressive age of 19.

Recently, he was honoured as the Best Young Player of the Season for 2022/23 by the Jomo Cosmos senior team, an accolade presented by the legendary Jomo Sono, known for spotting emerging talent. This recognition underscores Mahasha’s immense potential.

The former Bafana Bafana national team coach has lauded Mahasha’s abilities, declaring, “Blessing is a skilled player. Despite his stature, he confidently takes on larger opponents. With the right experience, he has the potential to reach the same heights as greats like Sizwe Motaung and Lucky Mhlathi.”

With a determined spirit, Mahasha is poised to represent Polokwane City and is committed to making a substantial impact as the club aims to rise in the league standings. Currently positioned in 12th place, the team has secured six points from eight matches, with one victory, three draws, and four losses. They are set to face their next challenge against Marumo Gallants this Sunday at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.
