Chris Hani Community Hall in Mamaila-Mphotwane was cloaked in a festive shroud, as the Mayor of Greater Letaba Municipality, Dagma Mamanyoha celebrated his birthday in style.
Accompanied by councillors and municipal officials the Mayor kicked off his birthday celebration by demonstrating his commitment through his generous donations of 10 Wheelchairs and 50 blankets to individuals living with disabilities and elderly people.
In his speech, he indicated that the only way his birthday could be perfect, was if he was doing a good deed, hence the gesture to the needy.
“My joy comes from making a life changing gesture to someone in need. By donating these wheelchairs and blankets fulfils me. We are here to serve our people, these are only simple acts of kindness that can brighten someone’s life,” Mamanyoha remarked.
Mamanyoha went on to say it is part of government’s mandate to ensure that it keeps up to its commitments to transform lives of people living with disabilities and fostering a sense of inclusion in society.
The birthday festivities culminated in a symbolic act of sharing, as the Mayor’s cake was enjoyed by community members.
