The Limpopo Sport, Arts, and Culture (DSAC), MEC Funani Jerry Maseko, will lead a series of build-up events in anticipation of the prestigious Annual Mapungubwe Arts Festival.
These Build-Up events will take place across five districts in the province, creating excitement and community engagement ahead of the main festival scheduled for the 14th of December 2024 at Polokwane Cricket Club.
The Mapungubwe Festival is a flagship programme of the department that celebrates the rich cultural heritage and artistic talents of the province, highlighting the significance of the Mapungubwe Kingdom as a historical and cultural landmark. The district build-up events will serve as a platform to showcase local talent in music, dance, visual arts, and poetry, while also providing economic opportunities for community artists, crafters, and small businesses.
“We are thrilled to bring the spirit of the Mapungubwe Arts and Culture Festival to communities across the province,” said MEC Funani Jerry Maseko. “These build-up events will not only showcase the diverse talent and creativity within our communities but also highlight the importance of preserving and promoting cultural heritage.”
The build-up events arranged as follows:
19 October-Greenside Primary School, Seshego in Polokwane; Capricorn District,
19 October- Metz Community Hall in Maruleng Municipality; Mopani District,
26 October-Ha-Masia Multipurpose Centre, Collins Chabane Municipality,
Vhembe District,
02 November-Mookgopong Community Hall in Waterberg District; and
02 November-Moses Mabotha, Ga Nkoana in Sekhukhune District.
