Rankoko Tau, the leading striker for Mpheni Defenders, has made his return to the National First Division, signing with Venda FC.

The 27-year-old’s transfer was confirmed by his former coach at Mpheni, Sydwell Phuravhathu. Having started training with Venda FC last week, Tau is set to make his debut this week in their home game against Kruger United.

Tau’s return comes at a crucial juncture for the struggling Venda-based club, which sits at the bottom of the league table with just one point and a solitary goal from six matches.

Known for his scoring prowess, Tau played a pivotal role in Mpheni’s success in the ABC Motsepe League, and he is expected to help resolve the team’s scoring woes. In his last appearance for Mpheni, he scored the winning goal against Ngwaabe City Motors in the final of the Limpopo ABC Motsepe League Nedbank Cup preliminary round at Oscar Mpetha Stadium.

Excited about rejoining VFC and competing in the National First Division, Tau expressed his determination to make a difference and help the team find the net. He’s particularly looking forward to teaming up with veteran striker Judas Moseamedi, who recently made his move to Venda FC.

Sydwell Phuravhathu, Tau’s former coach, shared his excitement over the striker’s move and wished him all the best as he embarks on this new chapter in his career.
