Phalaborwa United players and management in celebration mode, lifting Regional Nedbank Cup.

New kid on the block Phalaborwa United hit the ground running and edged closer to their dream of playing in the last 32 teams of the Nedbank Cup, after a sensational performance in the Mopani Regional Nedbank Cup games, that were held in Nkowankowa Stadium in the past weekend.

After four teams battled for the honours, it was Phalaborwa United and Ndengeza Jackson Young Stars still standing after they beat Mariveni United and Sekgopo Happy Boys FC in the semi-finals respectively.

It was clear from the start why both teams reached the final, the showdown was nothing short of nail-biting moments and entertainment, living up to expectations.

Both teams went into the finals with their heads held up high and gave their best performance on the day, moreover there had to be one winner and United were crowned Champions after defeating Young Stars 3-1.

The Phalaborwa based team will now face winners of other streams in the inter-regional playoffs. The winning region will then have to play against Mpheni Home Defenders in the provincial final before proceeding to the next round of the prestigious competition.

The provincial final will determine who will qualify for the Nedbank Cup last 32 to be drawn against Premier Soccer League and National First Division teams and other provincial winners.
