Leruma United FC coach Mpho “Zico” Maleka is fully confident that his team will secure victory against the struggling Baroka this Friday in a pivotal league match at Baroka Village in Lebowakgomo.
Despite encountering two consecutive defeats—most recently a 3-0 loss to Milford and a 4-1 setback against Kruger United—Leruma United is ready to turn the tide. Their last triumph was a narrow 1-0 victory against Casric Stars, and Maleka believes the momentum is shifting in their favor.
Having started his coaching journey at Baroka as a player-coach, Maleka has an intimate understanding of their playing style, which he sees as an advantage. “I’m well aware of their strategies, and it’s all about our players executing the game plan flawlessly. We’re poised for a comeback,” he stated confidently.
Maleka has identified lapses in discipline and complacency as key factors in the recent losses but emphasizes that his squad is eager to rectify these issues. With Baroka currently mired in a five-game winless streak, including three consecutive losses, Maleka understands the opportunity that lies ahead. Baroka’s last win was a narrow 1-0 against Kruger United in September, since which they have struggled to find form.
With both teams positioned at 14th and 15th place, a win would elevate either side to a potential eighth position in the standings. Baroka currently leads on goal difference, but the stakes are high, and Leruma United is ready to seize this crucial match. The kickoff is set for 15:30.
