The wait is finally over for football enthusiasts as the South African Football Association (SAFA) Mopani Hollywoodbets Regional League kicks off this coming weekend.
The 2024/25 season promises to be an exciting one, with a new stream, Molototsi, added to the existing local Football Association league streams.
Eleven to sixteen teams in each stream will battle it out for title honours, and this weekend’s matches will provide an early indication of which teams are peaking at the right time.
All eyes will be on the Baobab stream, where last season’s runner-up, FC Rellen, seeks redemption after failing to clinch the title.
FC Rellen’s campaign begins with a tough encounter against Black Angus FC at Senwamokgope Stadium. Meanwhile, newcomers Phalaborwa United and Selwane Chillo Stars FC face daunting away fixtures against Phalaborwa Fast Eleven FC and Gavaza Stone Breakers, respectively.
“The addition of the Molototsi stream brings fresh competition and opportunities for teams to shine,” said SAFA Chairman, Ramphago . “We’re excited to see how the season unfolds and which teams will rise to the top.”
With the fixture release, fans can now plan their weekends around the thrilling matches ahead.
