Tzaneen United coach Oruel Sambo has resigned from his position as head coach of the club.
He submitted his resignation letter to the club chairperson on Monday. Sambo, who previously coached Nkowankowa Continental, resigned just a week before a challenging home match against the formidable Black Leopards FC scheduled for this Saturday.
In his resignation letter, Sambo cited circumstances beyond football as the reason for his departure. However, speculation suggests that financial issues may have played a role, as it is rumoured that the club failed to pay him his monthly salary.
Attempts to reach club chairperson Dennus Mafologela for comment were unsuccessful. Sambo joined “Lebapola” just a month ago in a surprising coaching shift, taking over from Coach Peace Khosa, who left Tzaneen United for Nkowankowa Continental.
During his tenure, Sambo’s record included two wins, two losses, and one draw, leaving the team in seventh place in the league standings with seven points from five games.
