The 19th edition of the Limpopo Marula Festival is just around the corner, and music lovers from all over the country are in for a treat brought to them by the Limpopo Economic Development, Environment and Tourism in partnership with the Ba-Phalaborwa Local Municipality.
Premier Dr. Phophi Ramathuba presided over the launch and promised that this year’s festival will be bigger and better than ever, with a lineup that’s sure to impress.
But the Limpopo Marula Festival is more than just a music event – it’s also a celebration of the province’s rich cultural heritage. As Premier Ramathuba explained during the festival’s media launch, “The Marula Festival aims to create new job opportunities and contribute to poverty alleviation by blending the festival with other activities.” These activities include small enterprise business empowerment, sporting events, and a music concert that showcases the province’s vibrant arts and culture scene .
“As we launch this year’s festival, we are thrilled to introduce an early bird ticketing initiative. Tickets will be available at just R150 until Sunday, 26 January 2025. This initiative aims to encourage advance purchases and build anticipation for the main event at Impala Park Stadium on 01 March 2025,”she added.
Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality Mayor, Merriam Malatji is particularly thrilled about the opportunities the festival will bring to local small businesses. “I’m pleased that Premier Ramathuba has emphasized the importance of empowering local small businesses through the festival activities,” she said.
The festival, which takes place in Phalaborwa town, promises to be an unforgettable experience. With its rich history dating back to 2006, the Limpopo Marula Festival has become a highlight of the province’s events calendar. So mark your calendars, music lovers, and get ready to experience the best of Limpopo’s culture, music, and marula-infused fun!
The launch was attended by notable dignitaries, Mopani District Municipality Executive Mayor Cllr Pule Shai, Greater Giyani Municipality Mayor Cllr Thandi Zitha, Marula Festival project manager Moses Ngobeni amongst others.
