The newly revitalized Thlothlokwe Golden Syrup team is set to face Nkowankowa Continental this Saturday in a second-round match of the ABC Motsepe League at Nkowankowa Stadium. Based in Bolobedu, this squad aims to climb out of the relegation zone following a narrow 1-0 defeat to Continental during their first encounter at home in Westfalia Sports Ground last year.

Team manager Thabo Moremi has implemented significant changes, parting ways with several players from last season’s promotion squad, including captain Christopher “Kaka” Moremi, Valky Ngobeni, Matome “Rakhale” Sekhwela, and others. The only remaining players from the previous team are goalkeeper Kabelo Sebopetsa and a fullback known as “Cardoso.”

Moremi expresses confidence in the new team’s potential, stating, “We consistently control games but have struggled with finishing. Once we start finding the back of the net, victories will follow. We are also actively pursuing new signings before the transfer window closes on February 15.”

Last weekend, despite facing a tough opponent in Tzaneen United, Syrup demonstrated resilience, nearly securing a victory. After conceding a penalty in the first half, they equalized with a stunning goal just before halftime, showcasing the strength of their revamped squad.

Saturday’s match kicks off at 15:00, and admission is free.
