Airlink, the privately-owned regional airline, has announced plans to increase its flight frequencies to Hoedspruit’s Eastgate Airport, located in the Maruleng Local Municipality.

Effective March 30, the airline will operate three daily flights on the Johannesburg-Hoedspruit route, while the Cape Town-Hoedspruit route will be upgraded to a double-daily service.

According to Rodger Foster, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Airlink, the increased frequencies are designed to meet growing demand for travel to Hoedspruit, a popular destination for both domestic and international tourists.

Mayor Tsheko Musolwa has welcomed the announcement, hailing it as a major boost for the local tourism sector. “The increase in air travel is not just a win for Hoedspruit, but a victory for the entire travel and tourism sector in Maruleng,” said Musolwa.

The expansion of flight services is expected to enhance accessibility to Limpopo’s renowned wildlife reserves, lodges, and other tourist attractions. As the busiest airport in Limpopo, Eastgate Airport plays a critical role in supporting the region’s tourism industry.

The Maruleng Local Municipality has expressed its commitment to supporting initiatives that drive economic growth and tourism development, ensuring the area continues to flourish as a sought-after destination.

With Airlink’s increased flight frequencies, tourists and travelers can look forward to greater convenience and flexibility when planning their trips to Hoedspruit and the surrounding region.
