Mokopane-based Ramatlaohle Ladies have once again stamped their authority in Limpopo women’s football after defeating Simthumule Hutama Ladies 3–1 in the Sasol League provincial playoffs over the weekend.
The victory marks a repeat of last season’s women’s final, where Ramatlaohle also triumphed over the same opponents — then by a commanding 5–1 scoreline. This year’s clash, however, was far more competitive and closely contested.
Ramatlaohle took a narrow lead into halftime after scoring a solitary goal in the first half. Simthumule equalized early in the second half, but the defending champions responded strongly, adding two more goals to seal the 3–1 victory and retain their provincial crown.
Team manager Tshiila Mulaudzi praised their opponents, acknowledging the improvement of the Venda-based side.
“They gave us a tough time. They are a good team this season,” she said.
Mulaudzi added that Ramatlaohle Ladies are now shifting their focus to the National Playoffs, where they will compete for a place in the Hollywoodbets Super League, South Africa’s top-flight women’s division.
“Our team performance has improved, and we hope to finally gain promotion to the Hollywoodbets Super League — it has been our plan and wish all along. We are going there to represent Limpopo Province, and we will do our best and represent it with pride,” she concluded.
The date and venue for the national women’s playoffs have not yet been confirmed, but they are expected to take place towards the end of November.
