Hollywoodbets Regional League side FC Rellen will not compete for the next three seasons after club owner Rellen Masipa confirmed the Senwamokgope outfit has decided to lease its status.
The decision comes just two months after FC Rellen lifted the Baobab Stream title before falling short in the Champions of Champions Playoffs, missing out on qualification for the Regional Playoffs for promotion to the ABC Motsepe League.
“We have decided not to continue but to lease the status,” Masipa told this publication.
Masipa revealed that the club’s status will be made available free of charge, with only one condition.
“The status will be leased for free, just to someone who can afford to run the club and not fail to honour fixtures,” he said.
Despite stepping away from football, Masipa stressed that the decision is temporary.”Jaaaa, we will return after three seasons,” he added.
FC Rellen have been one of the standout teams in the Baobab Stream in recent years, but financial realities have forced the club to put its ambitions on hold, with Masipa hoping the status will be entrusted to someone capable of keeping the team competitive until the club returns.
