The Limpopo provincial government has urged all residents to take precautions and stay safe following a warning of bad weather across the region.
The South African Weather Service issued a yellow level 2 weather warning that remains active from Tuesday, 29 September, through Wednesday, 30 September 2026. The warning covers all five districts in Limpopo Province.
Heavy Rain, Hail, and Strong Winds Expected
Weather forecasters report that the province will experience heavy rainfall and severe thunderstorms over these two days. The storms are expected to bring large amounts of small hail, strong gusty winds, and continuous lightning.
Government officials warn that these harsh weather conditions could create severe risks for local communities:
*Localised flooding is likely to cover low-lying areas, vulnerable roads, and bridges, making travel dangerous.
*Heavy downpours and hail may damage motor vehicles, houses, and informal settlements.
* Power surges caused by lightning strikes could interrupt basic municipal services and electricity supply.
* Dangerous driving conditions, falling trees, and poor road visibility will increase the risk of traffic accidents. * Thunderstorms and lightning may also harm livestock and disrupt farming
