Timmy Mashele is on the hunt for a new coaching job after being released by Nkowankowa Continental following differences with the club’s management.

The 46-year-old tactician, who was in charge of the ABC Motsepe League Limpopo Stream A side last season, says he was shocked by the decision and is disappointed by what he describes as false stories circulating about his departure.

Mashele was reportedly accused of mistreating players, but Continental’s head of sports, Doctor Ntimbana, has given a different account of the circumstances surrounding the coach’s exit.

Ntimbana says the separation was prompted by tactical differences and disagreements over the composition of the playing squad.

“We had around 30 players and expected him to trim the squad to at least 27 players or fewer,” Ntimbana explained.

Mashele joined Continental last season when the club was in serious danger of relegation, having collected just three points from 14 matches.

He subsequently masterminded an impressive turnaround, collecting enough points to steer the team clear of relegation and finish ninth on the table with 22 points.

The coach had previously enjoyed a successful spell with Phalaborwa United, whom he guided to promotion to the ABC Motsepe League.

His achievements included winning both the Champ of Champs and inter-regional playoffs, recording four victories in each competition.

United’s league campaign was equally impressive, with Mashele overseeing 29 victories and just one draw throughout the season.

With his Continental chapter now behind him, Mashele is eager to return to the dugout and is looking for an ambitious club where he can continue his coaching career.
