The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in Limpopo has welcomed and commended its Student Command Univen Branch for delivering a landslide victory following the University of Venda’s 2022/2023 Student Representative Council (SRC) elections on Thursday.
In a statement, the party’s provincial convenor Mbuyiseni Ndlozi said in the hotly contested SRC elections, the mighty EFFSC proved its strength, relevance and dominance by retaining power with an outright majority after obtaining 5226 votes which gave them eight seats against chance taking opponents, the likes of SASCO with only four seats from 2963 votes.
“We congratulate the EFFSC battalion, led by President Gudani Tshamano for emerging victorious with the responsibility to lead the SRC of the university. A mammoth task lies ahead of them but we are confident that they will execute the mandate given by the students and apply their experience in leading the university for two consecutive years to advance service delivery for all students,” he said.
Ndlozi added,” Like they did before, the EFFSC will ensure that returning and prospective students at Univen continue to be registered for free, and that their meal, book, accommodation and transport allowances are disbursed on time, fairly and squarely. The EFFSC SRC will accelerate the prime struggle for the insourcing of workers in the university from security workers to cleaners, because students’ wars are community wars.”
Last month the EFFSC also took charge of the University of Limpopo (UL) after landslide victory.
The EFFSC has taken over UL SRC with 13 seats after amassing 9466 votes while SASCO came second with 3 seats over 1966 votes, SUCA 1 seats with 816 votes, with PASMA and SCO found no expression of seats during the campus’s SRC elections
