Towering point guard Sarah “Kilo” Mphoka is one of the women who add some livening human drama on basketball courts.

At the age of 21, the towering Amazon who is the nucleus of Botlokwa Eagles could be just the latest nuclear-tipped arrow that Limpopo basketball has drawn from its seemingly bottomless quiver of classy defenders.

With a commanding presence, Mphoka’s height enables her to adjust to the requirements of basketball’s various formats as effortlessly as someone of her ample abilities should do.

During her recent interview with Mopani Times, she enthused that: “My height has always been my lethal weapon. It enables me to manipulate the opposition.”

Since she started playing in 2006, Mphoka has grown into a sturdy defender who has a firm grip on all the tenets of the fast and the furious.

She began her non-commercial career armed with more pace than she knew what to do with but under the tutelage of senior players at Mahwelereng Vampires, she has over the years matured and mellowed like good red wine.

Tall, calculative and sexy (if you insist), Mphoka is the complete package with athletic ability that enables her dictate the proceedings with controlled aggression.

Altogether it makes her a lethal package.

A team player of breathtaking chutzpah and enterprise, as well as the skills and the temperament required to back up his creative intent, Limpopo should be pleased to have her.

She is also among the most dazzling and commanding players of the modern game and with the ability to sway the game in her own favour, that is what makes her stand head and should above her peers.

Marry all that with an approach to life that veers between concise and laid back, and it isn’t difficult to understand why she has been afforded senior player status in at her home team.

Mphoka’s match-winning performance at Mahwelereng courts in recent time was one of her greatest all-round performances of all time that earned her Most Valuable Player honour.

“I was crowned MVP on that day because of the thrilling performance I displayed with unmatched ability to dictate term on court. It was an amazing experience and I still cherish that tournament” she reminisced.
