Premier Dr. Phophi Ramathuba, officially launched Bulamahhlo and’Hi Nwa Mati Friday’ initiatives at Homu Village, Greater-Giyani Municipal area.
The ‘Hi Nwa Mati Friday’ project is a testament to the government’s steadfast commitment to ensuring that every resident of Limpopo has access to clean and safe drinking water, a fundamental human right. “This initiative is more than a project; it is a weekly call to action that mobilizes all sectors of government and society to address the water needs of our communities actively.
In the morning, Dr Phophi Ramathuba, MEC for Health Dieketseng Mashego, and Executive Mayor of Mopane Cllr Pule Shai visited the Nkhensani Hospital to launch Operation Bulamahlo which is a flagship programme of Rural Health Matters with the aim of reducing the cataract surgery backlog affecting patients to retore their vision. This programme is conducted throughout the province in all districts.
Premier and entourage proceeded to Homu village 14A, to officially launch #HiNwaMati Friday initiative. This was the Premier’s commitment during the opening of the Legislature for the 7thAdministration early this month.
She further outlined that in the two weeks the remaining 700 households will be receiving water once the mainline pipeline is connected. Premier emphasized that the seventh administration will not tolerate been told about progress report of projects, whereas communities on the ground want to receive clean drinking water.
Furthermore, Premier went to old Giyani college check progress on the status and what work may be required from different stakeholder to bring it to the levels where it can operate as a university campus. Her administration made an undertaking that the soon to be Tshwane University of Technology satellite campus will have its first cohorts of students next year.
