Block Five’s Five Stars FC claimed victory in the Five Stars Heritage Day Tournament hosted at Block Five sports ground last weekend.

The tournament, generously sponsored by esteemed entrepreneur and Philanthropist Lesley Maake, was a meticulously organized and well-attended affair commemorating Heritage Day. A total of eight teams from Bolobedu showcased an exceptional standard of football throughout the competition.

In the quarterfinals, Five Stars triumphed over Modern Boys and subsequently secured a commanding 3-0 win against Block Five Manchester in the semifinals. This positioned them for a demanding final showdown against Happy Boys of Pyapyamela.

Despite the visitors taking a two-goal lead, a resilient comeback from the home team forced the game into a penalty shootout, ultimately resulting in Five Stars emerging victorious with a 7-6 win.

As champions, they were awarded the first prize, inclusive of R5000, along with a trophy, gold medals, soccer kit, and a ball. Meanwhile, the runners-up, Happy Boys, received R 3000, a new soccer kit, silver medals, and a ball. The Team of Choice, securing third place, claimed R2000, bronze medals, and a ball, while the host team received a consolation prize of R1000 and a ball.

Lenny Ramaphoko, the director of the All Stars team, commended his team and the technical staff for their third consecutive tournament victory. He also expressed gratitude to the tournament sponsor, Lesley Maake, for orchestrating the well-structured event and conveyed the community’s eager anticipation for the tournament’s return.
