In a heart-warming collaboration between Greater Tzaneen Municipality and iX Engineers, eleven schools have received a boost from Mayor Gerson Phetole Molapisane’s school shoes campaign, marking a significant stride towards uplifting 234 pupils.

The schools which benefitted from the campaign are Mabje a Kgoro, Mawa, Leseka, Mahlodimela, BMkhabele, Runnymede, Maopa, Malwandla, Maluvana, Maponya, and Miragoma Primary schools.

The handover ceremony took place on Friday afternoon at the GTM Firehall, where representatives from iX Engineers generously presented the donations.

Acting Municipal Manager, Freedom Mthethwa emphasized the campaign’s purpose which is to assist underprivileged students who often struggle in the classroom due to inadequate footwear.

He remarked, “Though this gesture may seem small, it can profoundly impact a child forced to walk to school barefoot in cold weather.”

Mayor Molapisane expressed gratitude to iX Engineers and encouraged them to expand their humanitarian efforts outside Tzaneen, reiterating the biblical principle that “blessed is the hand that gives.” His call emphasizes the necessity of collective duty in caring for the community’s most vulnerable members.

Mopani District Director for Education, Philippine Modike, praised the sponsors for their impactful contribution, likening it to planting seeds in fertile soil. She expressed confidence that this initiative would yield positive outcomes, as Mopani aims to surpass last year’s matric results, solidifying its reputation as the best-performing district in Limpopo.

This ongoing endeavour reflects a collective aspiration to nurture every pupil’s educational journey, preventing anyone from being hindered by lack of essential provisions.
