Thlothlokwe Golden Syrup, a Bolobedu-based team participating in the ABC Motsepe League, is seeking assistance from the Greater Letaba Municipality to facilitate essential repairs to Kgapane Stadium.

As a newly promoted team, they aspire to establish the stadium as their home ground; however, they are presently playing their matches at Westfalia Sports Ground, which is situated just outside Modjadjiskloof.

Concerns have been raised regarding the suitability of the Westfalia facility, as its dimensions do not adequately accommodate the team’s playing style.

Kgapane Stadium currently lacks a proper grass playing surface; however, the installation of an effective irrigation system would enable its restoration in time for hosting ABC Motsepe League matches.

Team Manager Thabo Moremi has indicated that discussions with the municipality regarding improvements to this well-respected stadium are ongoing, though he has expressed concerns about the pace of progress.

Additionally, Moremi noted that the team has experienced a substantial decline in supporter attendance due to the distance to the Westfalia venue and the absence of adequate seating.

He emphasized the importance of providing fans with a suitable environment to enjoy the matches, asserting that relocating to Kgapane Stadium could significantly boost attendance and community support.

Lovers Maenetje, the spokesperson for the Greater Letaba Municipality, confirmed that she had a conversation with the Thlothlokwe Golden Syrup team manager a few weeks ago. However, she does not recall the municipality making any commitments during that discussion.

This weekend, the team is scheduled to travel to Makonde Stadium in Venda to compete against Vondwe X1 Bullets, coached by Owen Da Gama.
