The 11th ANC Limpopo Provincial Conference is officially back on track after a high stakes morning at the Polokwane High Court.

In a decisive ruling handed down today, Friday, March 27, 2026, Judge Mashudu Tshivhase dismissed the urgent application to stop the gathering, removing the final hurdle for the ruling party.

The Ruling: No Urgency, No Internal Process

The court struck the application by Basil Mabasa off the roll, citing a complete lack of urgency. The judge noted that Mabasa, the secretary of Ward 10 in the Collins Chabane sub-region, failed to follow the ANC’s own internal dispute resolution steps before rushing to court.

The judge’s decision was based on the fact that the issues raised dated back to November 2025. By waiting until the very morning of the conference to claim the matter was “urgent,” the applicant essentially created his own crisis, which the court refused to entertain.

What This Means for the Conference

With the legal cloud lifted, the ANC is moving swiftly to reclaim lost time.

*The “Unity Slate” stays intact: The planned leadership transition, featuring Dr. Phophi Ramathuba and the newly graduated Pule Shayi, can now proceed to the floor.

*Administrative Ready: The conference business will now continue “unhindered,” as the party focuses on finalizing credentials and moving into the official programme.

*Media Briefing: Provincial Secretary Reuben Madadzhe is set to address the media at 11:00 AM at the Media Centre in Polokwane to give a final update on the state of readiness.

A Blow to the Disruption Strategy

The dismissal is a significant victory for the provincial leadership and a major setback for the “Alliance of the Wounded.” The attempt to use the courts as a last minute tool for disruption has failed, and the focus now shifts back to the delegates in the hall.

The road to the 2026 elections in Limpopo starts now, and for the ANC, the legal victory provides the momentum they need to open this historic weekend on a strong note.
