Abel “The Lip” Rakoma says he hopes the upcoming elections of Capricorn Sport Confederation will be for the advancement of sporting codes in the region.

Amid all the trials and tribulations of the local government elections, sport confederations in the province are also gearing up for the elective conferences.

District sport confederations are gripped by the aura of elections to install new leadership to carry their mandates for the administration of sporting codes at district levels.

 Capricorn Sport Confederation is heading to the polls scheduled for October 10 during AGM the much-anticipated Annual General Meeting to be held at the Capricorn District Municipality in Polokwane.

Mopani, Vhembe, Waterberg and Sekhukhune are yet to convene their respective election.

District confederations operate under the auspices of Limpopo Sports Confederation, working in tandem with the provincial Department of Sports, Arts and Culture.

District federations are currently preparing their nomination forms to forward their preferred candidates to take office for the upcoming four years.

The top leadership in the management committee will include chairperson,  two deputies, general secretary, treasurer and public relations officer.

Current secretary, Rose Mamabolo confirmed that Capricorn heading to the polls, further saying federation are currently submitting their preferred office bearers for the upcoming term.

She said, “We are currently finalising reports from various members ahead of the AGM. We’re hoping for a smooth election process.”

Abel “The Lip” Rakoma, the confederation former chairperson, says the  election of the new office bearers should usher in sweeping changes for the advancement of sport in general.

“The winds of changes are blowing and they heading to the right direction. Our sporting codes need capable men and women who will spearhead various codes. Sport confederations play a pivotal role in the development of players from grassroots right up to professional level. We are hoping the upcoming elections will run smoothly in all the five districts of the province.”
