Oskarine Masuluke has brought stability in Polokwane City goalkeeping department.

Polokwane City head coach, Willy Moloto has expressed confidence in star goalkeeper Oscarine Masuluke, insisting that his arrival has brought significant impact in Rise and Shine’s goalkeeping department.

Masuluke 33, was without a club after leaving Stellenbosch at the end of last season. He had been training with Polokwane City for several weeks before the club completed the move.

The goalkeeper quickly got his opportunity, making his debut in Polokwane City’s 1-all draw against Kaizer Chiefs.

Masuluke started ahead of Lindokuhle Mathebula, who had been the club’s first-choice goalkeeper last season.

Moloto believes Masuluke’s experience can make a difference, particularly when it comes to organising the defence and providing leadership on the field.

The coach also believes his arrival will create healthy competition between Masuluke and Mathebula with both goalkeepers now fighting for the starting position.

For Polokwane City, the signing gives the team another experienced option between the posts while also adding competition within the goalkeeping department.

The former Baroka FC keeper made his debut for Rise and Shine in the 1-1 league draw against Kaizer Chiefs, a result that saw them back in the top eight bracket with seven points.

He started ahead of Lindokuhle Mathebula who was the first choicer for the Limpopo side last season with Moloto saying his leadership is going to be important.

He says, “Masuluke has adds much-needed value in the squad. He plays an integral part in terms of organising the defence and he’s a player that is a leader.

“So, it’s something that we are looking at and he’s also going to push Mathebula. We want to bring balance in order to have a good competition on our team.”
