Tzaneen United have confirmed the departure of experienced midfielder Moshe “Na Bolo” Moshabi ahead of Saturday’s eagerly anticipated derby against Nkowankowa Continental.
The club announced Moshabi’s exit on its official Facebook page, although his next destination remains unknown.
The former Black Leopards player leaves a significant gap in the Tzaneen United midfield as the club prepares for a crucial encounter against its local rivals at Nkowankowa Stadium.
Tzaneen United have traditionally enjoyed the upper hand in this rivalry, but Saturday’s encounter could present a different challenge under their new coach.
Continental, meanwhile, will be looking to capitalise on their opponents’ situation under the guidance of experienced tactician Timmy Mashele, who helped steer the club away from relegation last season.
The two sides head into the derby with contrasting league records. Continental have collected one win, one draw and one defeat from their opening three matches, while Tzaneen United have recorded one victory and suffered two defeats.
Continental occupy fifth position on the league standings, with Tzaneen United sitting eighth.
Despite Tzaneen United’s historical dominance over their arch-rivals, Moshabi’s departure and the arrival of a new coach add an element of uncertainty to Saturday’s showdown.
Mashele’s tactical experience could prove crucial as Continental look to maintain their advantage on the log and challenge Tzaneen United’s traditional dominance in this local rivalry.
The derby takes place at Nkowankowa Stadium on Saturday at 15:00, with entrance free for supporters.
