True champions, like the sun, cannot be eclipsed forever.
These are the words of a confident retired Tlhotlhokwe Golden Syrup player turned head coach, Moshomo Seshoka.
The 29 year-old coach believes his side is well set to emerge champions in this year’s Mopani SAB Champ of Champs and the Provincial playoffs for promotion to the ABC Motsepe league.
Last year the Bolobedu based side under the mentorship of former coach Mapheya “Zulu” Malatji got eliminated early in the champ of champs stage after they failed to win a game in their group. They lost their opening game 2-1 to Jozy United and drew 2-2 with Jopi All Blacks. According to Moshomo, Syrup’s failure in the playoffs last year was due to late preparation, the lack of depth in their squad and poor physical fitness.
However, this time around the Zebra stream B winners are convinced they are ready and well able to clinch it. “We have seen our last year mistakes and this time around we have taken extensive time to correct them” said coach Moshomo
“Some of our players were cramping in our games last year but this time I took them to the sand to train them there” he added.
This season, the Zebras stream B winners who have retained the core of their last year team finished their stream B games with twenty wins a draw and one loss from twenty-two games.
They have beefed up their squad with twelve new players most of whom are young. Their few new experienced players includes the likes of 36 year-old former Winnerspark veteran striker Mohale Motale and 24 year-old former Phinnet left winger, Godfrey Lekukela.
