Mayor’s cup in Giyani has now reached a quarterfinal stage in both Men and Women’s football.

The professionally organised Giyani Municipality Mayor’s Cup has now reached a quarterfinal stage.
This after 16 best teams from the 31 various wards in the municipality booked their place in the quarterfinal stage of the tournament over the past two weekends.
Last Saturday the 16 remaining teams battled against each other in both men and women football. They played their games with skill and passion to the delight of the multitude of supporters who have been consistently attending the games from day one.
In the men’s football, a more clinical Ward 15 humiliated Ward five 5-2 and Ward 14 humbled Ward 29 by 6-2. The powerful Ward 20 beat Ward 27 with a convincing 2-0 score while Ward 16 beat Ward 12 by 2-0.
In women’s soccer Ward 28 lost 2-1 to Ward 2 while Ward 12 lost to Ward 16 by the same scoreline. The talented Ward 13 booked a place in the quarterfinal with a 2-1 victory over Ward 21 while Ward 14 got eliminated by Ward 9 with a 3-1 score.
The games are expected to continue in earnest this Saturday with an increased attendance. The complete results are as follows: Men’s Football.
