Winnerspark FC have fired their coach Abel Makhubela and appointed former player Isaac “Wacko” Senyolo as interim coach.

Makhubele was fired following the team’s poor performance in the league and their failure to win the R100 000 first prize in the General Skhokho tournament at Makhakhapatje in December.  The ABC Motsepe league side lost 2-1 in the quarterfinal of the five star tournament to their rivals and  Hollywood bets side Josy United after leading the first half 1-0.

It was the Bellevue side’s third loss to their rivals Josy United in Tournament football. Apparently the loss did not go well with the Bellevue side’s management who parted ways with their highly qualified coach after just under three month of his appointment.

Team boss Robert Mokgola pointed to Makhubela’s failure to discuss the team’s performance with him, post match, as the reason for the poor performance and his ultimate sacking.

However Makhubela himself said he and his assistant were dismissed from their duties on Tuesday with no reasons given. “I came back on Tuesday to start preparing the team then I was called to a meeting together with my assistant and then told that we are parting ways! Just like that. No further sound explanation” he said.

Their interim coach “Wacko” Senyolo who was part of the Winnerspark team that got promoted to the NFD in 2001/2002 season has already started training with the team from Wednesday. He is expected to use his experience to guide the club back to their glory days.

Winnerspark is currently on position eight with two points from three games. “Wacko won his first game against newbies Maruleng Celtic 2-1 at Drakenserg stadium on Saturday.
