Magesi has acquired the services of winger, Kgaogelo Sekgota.
With the 2024/25 Betway Premiership season set to kick-off on September 14, newly-promoted Limpopo-based outfit, Magesi FC have unveiled 12 new players to bolster the squad for the top flight league.
The club’s head coach, Clinton Larsen has admitted their romp to the Motsepe Foundation Championship title and promotion last season took everyone at the club by surprise, and there is now a scramble on to build a squad able to compete in the elite league.
Among the new faces was former Kaizer Chiefs winger Kgaogelo Sekgota, who left Stellenbosch abruptly mid-season, and will look to revive his career.
The 27-year-old also had spells at Swallows FC and Wits after returning to South Africa from Portugal.
The club had acquired the services of 29-year-old Gift Motupa who had prolific stints at Orlando Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns and Baroka FC.
Motupa will also be looking to revive his career after his failed return to Bakgakga earlier in the year.
Another new face it Menzi Ndwande, 27, who was recently at Chippa United, but played previously for TS Galaxy, AmaZulu, Uthongathi Bloem Celtic and All Stars.
In addition, new goalkeeper Bongani Mpandle was also unveiled after leaving his role as back-up to Darren Keet at Cape Town City, while Jacob Everson joins from Swallows after their demise.
Malawian international Limbikani Mzava was last in South Africa with AmaZulu, having also played for Highlands Park, Golden Arrows and Mpumalanga Black Aces.
Wonderboy Makhubu will have a second season on loan at the club from Sekhukhune United, while Delano Abrahams looks an excellent signing from University of Pretoria, who Magesi beat to the second tier title last season.
Other signing include attacking left wings Jacob Everson and Maloisane Mokhele, right wing Tshepo Kakora, left-back Lebogang Mabotja and center-back, Sello Motsepe.
There have been talks that Magesi intend to take their home matches closer to their supporters at Seshego Stadium.
However, that facility doesn’t currently meet the PSL requirements.
Club boss, Solly Makhubela has since confirmed that the first two options for them will be the Old Peter Mokaba and Seshego if it’s ready on time.
He said “We are still waiting for a response from different municipalities in Limpopo. But there is currently a proposal to use the Old Peter Mokaba stadium and Seshego stadium. There was also (an option) for Malamulele.
“But we are waiting for the municipalities to see which one can suit the management and the technical team. The New Peter Mokaba stadium will be used to host the bigger teams like Chiefs, Pirates and Sundowns.”
