In an early celebration of Christmas, five families from Ward 5 in the Greater Giyani Local Municipality were blessed with fully furnished houses, thanks to the generosity of ANC Limpopo Deputy Provincial Secretary, Mr. Basikopo Makamu, who is also the MEC for Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements, and Traditional Affairs. This heartfelt gesture was part of the ANC’s commitment to uplift destitute communities.
The event which took place on Monday, December 23, 2024, highlighted a series of activities throughout the Giyani Sub-Region. It began at Nkuri Zamani, where two houses were handed over, accompanied by the distribution of 100 food parcels to families in need. The initiative continued at Tomu Village, where one house was presented and another 100 food parcels were distributed. The series of handovers culminated at Nkuri Shirilele at 11:30, where two additional houses were given along with 100 food parcels.
In total, 300 food parcels were shared among the three villages, aimed at alleviating hunger and providing essential supplies during the festive season. The festive atmosphere was further enhanced by a mini rally to honor the ANC volunteers from the July Mawewe branch in Ward 5, Greater Giyani Local Municipality. Local artists performed, captivating the audience and strengthening community bonds.
The day concluded with a Thanksgiving ceremony held at Nkuri Primary School, celebrating the efforts of the community and the ANC volunteers involved who contributed to the party’s overwhelming victory in the province during the 29 May 2024 National and Provincial Elections.
Among the speakers at the event were Makamu, ANC Norman Mashabane Regional Task Team Coordinator Good Mtileni, various local leaders and community activists, who praised the ANC’s commitment to service delivery and urged citizens to engage actively in the upcoming elections. Local artists performed, captivating the audience and strengthening community bonds.
As the holiday season approaches, the impactful event symbolizes hope for the families who received new homes and reflects the ANC’s dedication to building a brighter future for all citizens in the Greater Giyani area.
