Nkowankowa Stadium is the place to be this Saturday for an exciting doubleheader in the ABC Motsepe League featuring two of Tzaneen’s best football clubs, Tzaneen United and Nkowankowa Continental.

The festivities will kick off with a thrilling match between Tzaneen United and the second-placed Selwane White Vultures at 13:00. This will be followed by another intense encounter where the home side, Nkowankowa Continental, takes on the relegation-threatened Winnerspark at 15:00.

In the first match, the Vultures, who are in a fierce battle for the league championship against Vondwe X1 Bullets, will be aiming to secure three points to narrow the three-point gap between them and Bullets.

While Tzaneen United has faced challenges this season, their owner, Dennus Mafologela, has enhanced the technical team with the addition of former Thlothlokwe Golden Syrup coach Moses “Pokker” Malatji. Although Mafologela has stated that they are not competing for the league championship this season, the team will be determined to achieve a victory. They will seek to avenge their 3-2 defeat to the Vultures in the first round and improve their position on the league table. Currently, Tzaneen United is in an unusual seventh place with 18 points from 13 games, having won five and lost five.

Vultures’ coach, Luvhuno “Zambrotta” Ndou, is confident that his team will secure maximum points, especially following their impressive 3-0 victory over Maruleng Celtics last weekend.

In the second match, Nkowankowa Continental will be looking to maintain their dominance over Winnerspark, having won their first-round encounter 2-1 at Xikokwana Stadium. However, the game will not be straightforward. Winnerspark, coached by the experienced Joel Mongalo, has the potential to surprise their opponents. They recently held the powerful White Vultures to a 2-2 draw in their last match and will definitely be aiming for a win to escape the relegation zone.

Entrance to the venue is free.
