Thlothlokwe Golden Syrup has officially appointed Zungu Nkosi as the club’s new head coach. This decision follows the resignation of former coach Moses Malatji, who stepped down after a challenging series of defeats.

Nkosi is the third coach to take the helm this season, after the team’s first coach Earnest Mamanyoha, who had previously led the team to promotion was dismissed after only six matches due to unsatisfactory results.

Zungu Nkosi brings a wealth of experience to the role, with a primary objective of reversing the team’s fortunes and ensuring they avoid relegation—a challenge he claims to have successfully navigated in the past with Happy Boys. Since relocating to the Limpopo region in 2019, Zungu has demonstrated his coaching acumen, notably serving on the technical team during the 2021/22 season, where the team narrowly missed winning the league championship.

He joins Thlothlokwe after a tenure at Lebash, where he co-coached with Ludwick “Chucks” Raselaya and Oruel Sambo, leaving the club in sixth position on the table. Zungu has already begun training with his new players in preparation for their upcoming match against the formidable Munaca side this Sunday at Mamanyoha Stadium. Despite Thlothlokwe facing a previous 4-0 defeat to Munaca in the first round, he is optimistic about a positive outcome this time. “I look forward to our match against Munaca this week. I am familiar with their playing style, which relies on physicality and speed. We are determined to secure a victory,” he remarked.

Although Zungu has limited preparation time, he maintains a positive outlook. “With just three days to prepare, I will evaluate the players’ capabilities and proceed accordingly. The existing technical staff will provide valuable insights into player dynamics.” Zungu expresses confidence in his coaching experience, stating that he has never overseen a relegation and is committed to securing maximum points from upcoming encounters with teams such as Black Leopards, Winnerspark, and Musina, all of whom will be visiting the club’s home ground.

“We have 27 points available, and with these teams coming to us, we are ready to capitalize on this opportunity,” he concluded. The match will commence at 15:00, and admission will be free for attendees.
