Josy United’s chances of winning the Hollywoodbets League Molototsi Stream took a hit after a 2–2 draw with eighth-placed Bebs FC in a must-win match.
Bebs scored both of their goals in the first half—one from a free kick and the second from what many considered a clear offside.
Despite the early setback, Josy United responded strongly in the second half. Kamogelo “KG” Raseekela converted a penalty to pull one back, and Pogba Maake scored a stunning long-range goal from outside the box to level the match.
Coach Neil Thwala admitted the players were discouraged after the game, especially upon learning that table-toppers Hlahla Northern Bucks, who were level on points with Josy before the round, also drew their match 0–0 against Bode Arrow Mountain. A win for Josy would have put them in a stronger position, but with Hlahla still having a game in hand, the pressure has now increased.
Josy United has played 18 matches and sits on 37 points, the same as Hlahla, who have played one game less. Nkuri Fast Move has emerged as a serious contender for the title after defeating Jackson Young Stars 4–2. Nkuri now sits third with 36 points from 16 matches, just one point behind both Hlahla and Josy, with two games in hand.
Looking ahead, Josy United will play their remaining two matches away against Hlaneki and then at home against Nkomo. They previously beat Nkomo 2–1 and defeated Hlaneki 5–1, which gives them confidence. Coach Thwala and club chairman Joseph Machethe have urged the team to keep fighting, insisting, “It’s not over until the fat lady sings.”
Josy’s hopes now rest on the results of other matches—especially the clash between Hlahla and Nkuri—going in their favor. If both rivals drop points in their remaining fixtures, Josy United could still be crowned champions.
