Isaac “Wacko” Senyolo is once again making headlines as he prepares to lead Pipa Young Stars into the highly anticipated Champ of Champs playoffs—marking his second appearance in this competition.
A well-known figure in Bolobedu football circles, Senyolo has proven himself not only as an effective assistant coach but as a formidable head coach with promotion ambitions.
The 50-year-old tactician, originally from Thibeng village and now residing in Thlothlokwe, has guided Pipa Young Stars to a dominant season in the Hollywoodbets Baobab Stream, finishing at the top of the table with 66 points from 25 games. With just one match left, they have already outpaced second-placed FC Rellen, who trail by four points, thereby securing the stream title with a game to spare.
Wacko’s journey to this moment began in 2021 when he served as the assistant coach to his former teammate, Million Mkhabela, at Satlaleng All Stars. That campaign also led to a playoff berth; however, they unfortunately failed to progress to the provincial stage. With more experience under his belt and a stronger leadership role, Wacko is confident that this is the year to go all the way.
Importantly, Wacko is no stranger to the ABC Motsepe League. He previously served as the head coach of Winnerspark and more recently worked as an assistant coach to Joel Mongalo. He made a bold decision to resign from his position at Winnerspark to join Pipa Young Stars despite there being only six games left in the season—an act that is now paying off handsomely.
“We are working hard, not just to win the Champ of Champs, but to go all the way to the ABC Motsepe League,” Wacko stated confidently. “I’ve coached in the Hollywoodbets League before—I know what it demands. We focus on fitness and discipline.”
Senyolo made an immediate impact by winning five out of six games, including crucial victories that swung the title race in their favor. They are expected to finish the season on a high note against Sekgosese FC this Saturday at their home ground, Ga-Maphalle Sports Ground.
A significant part of Pipa Young Stars’ success stems from Wacko’s reliance on local talent—80% of the squad comes from surrounding villages—along with a few experienced players. Former Thlothlokwe Golden Syrup winger Matome “Rakgale” Sekgwela and ex-Tzaneen United defender Dumisani “Dunga” Makhubele have provided essential leadership and skill on the pitch.
Wisani Maluleke, a member of the club’s management team, praised the coach’s abilities: “Coach Wacko is excellent with players. His management skills are top-notch, and the boys respond well to him.”
With community support growing and confidence high, all eyes are now on the playoffs. Can Isaac “Wacko” Senyolo lead Pipa Young Stars to the promised land of the ABC Motsepe League? If his current run is any indication, the village of Maphalle may soon be celebrating a historic promotion.
