Letaba TVET College in partnership with various stakeholders staged a  Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Career Expo Awareness at  Modjadji Campus in Ga-Kgapane on Tuesday 05 August 2025.

The event brought together various stakeholders,  school learners, college leadership, the Modjadji Royal Council, and notable TV personalities like Gabriel Temudzani and Mapaseka Koetle.

The event kicked off with an awareness campaign that highlighted the importance of addressing GBV. School learners actively participated, carrying placards that sent a strong message encouraging men to protect women.

Guest speaker Mapaseka Koetle delivered an inspiring message to female learners, urging them to stand firm in setting boundaries and to report any form of harassment they might encounter. Her advice extended beyond personal safety, as she encouraged the young women to pursue ambitious career paths that would uplift not only themselves but also their families. This dual focus on empowerment and career development was a hallmark of the event.

The program was rich with interactive elements, including presentations, educational talks, and group discussions. These sessions aimed to equip participants with the knowledge and tools needed to identify abuse, support victims, understand their legal rights, and access professional support services. By engaging in these activities, attendees were better prepared to stand against GBV and promote a culture of respect and equality in their communities.

In addition to the GBV awareness component, the career expo provided a valuable platform for high school learners and unemployed youth to explore various skills programs, career paths, and training opportunities. Representatives from TVET colleges, Liwe Foundation, National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS), Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) and the Services SETA were on hand to offer guidance and information, helping attendees make informed decisions about their future.
