Newly appointed Member of the Executive Council for Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs: Mr Pule Shayi.
The Premier of Limpopo, Dr Phophi Ramathuba, announced changes to her provincial executive council. This is the first cabinet update since the 7th administration began in July 2024.
The premier made these changes after checking how each department performs, listening to public feedback, and working to improve service delivery. The update aims to tackle high unemployment, poverty, and service delivery problems in the province. The executive council members were sworn into office on 2 September 2026.
Florence Radzilani Retains Her Portfolio
Ms Florence Radzilani stays in her position as the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Social Development. Keeping her in this role brings stability to the department, which handles social welfare, support for vulnerable families, and community relief projects.
New Appointments to Cabinet
Premier Ramathuba brought in three new members to add fresh leadership:
- Mr Eddie Maila: Takes charge of the Health department.
- Ms Constance Kupa-Mabuza: Takes over Sport, Arts and Culture.
- Mr Pule Shayi: Becomes MEC for Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs (CoGHSTA).
MECs Shuffled to New Roles
Two cabinet members were moved to new departments to lead different service sectors:
- Ms Nakedi Kekana: Moves to Transport and Community Safety.
- Mr Basikopo Makamu: Moves to Agriculture and Rural Development.
MECs Retaining Their Roles
Along with Ms Radzilani, several other key department heads remain in their current roles:
- Ms Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya: Education
- Dr Tshitereke Matibe: Economic Development, Environment and Tourism
- Mr Kgabo Mahoai: Finance
- Mr Ernest Rachoene: Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure
Outgoing Cabinet Members
Three former MECs were dropped from the cabinet during this reshuffle:
- Ms Dieketseng Masesi Mashego (formerly Health)
- Mr Jerry Maseko (formerly Sport, Arts and Culture)
- Ms Susani Violet Mathye (formerly Transport and Community Safety)
The premier thanked all outgoing leaders for their service and urged the new team to work quickly to improve lives across Limpopo.
