Mopani District Municipality’s Operation Fix All Campaign has brought much-needed relief to water-stricken villages in the district.
As part of this campaig , the municipality handed over a newly drilled borehole to the community of Ga-Seaphole village in Greater Letaba municipality. Additionally, two boreholes were handed over in Semarela village in the Greater Tzaneen municipality, and two boreholes were fixed in Mandlakazi village to complement the existing four.
The Campaign, aimed at fixing dysfunctional and handing over newly drilled boreholes to address prolonged water supply challenges in the district. Many villages in the district rely on boreholes for water supply, and the campaign seeks to provide relief to water-stricken areas.
Simon Selowa a member of the water committee expressed his appreciation for the new borehole but also appealed to the municipality to respond faster to maintenance requests.
MMC for Water and Sanitation, Maditshego Sefufi, said the campaign will bring relief to hotspot villages experiencing serious water supply challenges. The handover ceremony signifies the transfer of ownership and responsibility to the community, empowering them to manage and maintain these vital resources.
The campaign aligns with the municipality’s commitment to sustainable development, promoting long-term benefits for the community and the environment.
The municipality urges residents to report any maintenance issues and to work together to ensure the sustainability of the water supply infrastructure.
